Which version of Windows O.S. will support the PCI Bus PC card drive?
Windows O.S. from 98 to XP will support the PCI Bus PC card drive. With Windows XP, the driver is built-in so no additional driver is required.

Why can I not use the PCI Bus PC Card Driver in Windows O.S.?

1. If you are using an "All-In-One" Motherboard, for example DELL or COMPAQ PC, please enter the system BIOS setting (refer to the Motherboard's Users' Guide) and disable the any additional peripherals that are not in use, for example COM1, COM2, Serial Port, Parallel Port and on Board device etc. By disabling some peripherals, you will release system resources required for supporting I/O cards.

2. Try to use the PCI Bus PC Card Drive on another desktop computer to make sure it is working properly.

3. To make sure the driver is working properly in operating system. You can open the Add/Remove Programs applet in Control Panel and check if the device "PCI PC Card Drive" or "Winroute" appears properly and has already been installed.

4. Please make sure, the software and hardware have been installed by following the instructions in the Users' Guide. After inserting PC Card, you can Open the "Device Manager/System Properties " and check if the device(s):
'Ricoh RL5C476 CardBus Controller' appeared properly without any special sign and have been properly installed."

Yes, it needs additional driver to install the device. But under Windows XP, the driver is "build-in" in the operating system; it does not need any additional driver.

How do I install the PCI Bus PC Card Drive under Windows 2000?
You must setup the software driver first and then plug the device into the PCI socket of the Mainboard. For more information, please refer to the Motherboard and the PCI Bus PC Card Driver Users' Guide. In addition, for information regarding inspection of procedure, please refer to FAQ number 2 "Why can I not use PCI Bus PC Card Driver in Windows O.S.?"

Why can I not use SRAM card or Linear Flash card on PCI Bus PC card drive under Windows O.S.?
SRAM Card and Linear Flash Card can only work under Windows 95, 98 and 98SE, so please check and make sure your O.S. is one of them mentioned above.
Then, Use a text editor such as Notepad or Wordpad to edit the Config.sys (the path should be "C: / config.sys") and add the following lines:
Device=c:\windows\system\csmapper.sys
Device=c:\windows\system\carddrv.exe /part=1
Device=c:\windows\system\ssmsflsh.sys
For the value of n, type the number of PC Card slots provided by the PCI Bus PC Card Drive. In addition, make sure the Csmapper.sys and Carddrv.exe files are in your Windows\System folder.

Then, find the Ssmsflsh.sys in the driver, and copy to your Windows\System folder. Finally, restart your computer.
Important :
Please finish the driver setup before plugging the PCI Bus PC Card Drive into the PCI socket of motherboard.
If your O.S. is Windows 2000, and asking for "PCMCIA MTD-0002" driver when a PC Card is inserted into the PC Card slot, it means the O.S. is missing the driver for the PC Card. The following suggestions should be helpful for solving some of the problems.

A new BIOS update or reinstall the O.S. may also solve the problems.
